  • GJZ Convex Linear Motion Spline The GJZ convex linear motion spline is designed with cylinder spline nut. Its spline shaft has three crests equidistantly spaced at 120 degrees. On both side of each crest, two rolls of balls are arranged to hold the crest from both sides. There are six rolls of balls in total.

Linear Motion Spline

The linear motion spline is a linear motion mechanism able to sustain great load and motive power. Through the rotational motion of steel balls, it can provide a linear motion along the length of the precisely ground spline shaft, while transmitting torque simultaneously. The balls roll and circulate in the raceway and the ball return path, while the spline nut and the spline shaft are moving in a linear way.

The linear motion spline comes with compact structure and is easy to assemble. Featuring high hardness and a long service life, its components are made of quality bearing steel: HRC58 quenched alloy steel or carburized and quenched alloy structural steel for the spline nut, and HRC58 quenched alloy steel for the spline bearing. As the linear motion spline uses zero clearance or even interference fit in the rotational direction, it is capable of operating in high speed rotation and straight motion. Due to the interference fit used by the spline, the balls can transmit smoothly and evenly the torque generated from the spline shaft or the spline nut. The use of retainers also prevents balls from falling even if the spline shaft is drawn out of the spline nut (except in the end housing spline). In addition, raceways are precisely ground to R-shaped grooves with a diameter approximate to that of the steel balls. This design allows for larger contact area of the ball and increases the load capacity.

Our company provides three types of splines: convex linear motion spline, concave linear motion spline, and end housing spline. Generally, the convex spline is able to bear more radial load and torque than the other two types. The spline shaft has three equally spaced crests at 120 degrees on its circumference. On both side of each crest, two rolls of balls (six rolls of ball in total) are arranged to hold the crest from both sides. According to the shape of the spine nut, the convex linear motion spline falls into two types: the convex spline with cylinder spline nut and the convex spline with square spline nut.

As for the concave linear motion spline, it has a round cross section. Compared to convex linear motion spline, it can be designed with a larger journal diameter.

The end housing spline uses closed and smooth raceway grooves. It has better performance when the motion reverses, and it moves more smoothly and agilely than the other two types of spline. In addition, the end housing spline is able to move linearly alongside the spline shaft at adjustable speeds and maintain excellent performance.

The linear motion spline is packed in paper based packages for export or in wooden cases labeled with IPPC. The strong and moisture proof packaging allows for long distance transport.
